NEW AGENTS
- Q. I am new to real estate, what course should do I do?
- A. The estate agency affairs board required new agents to do the FETC: Real Estate level 4, SAQA ID 59097. REBS provides training towards this qualification by self study. Lectures may be available in some areas subject to demand.
- Q. I only have grade 11. Can I enrol?
- A. Yes if you have a grade 11 and above you can enrol but may be required to do some extra subjects if you do not have matric with maths.
- Q. How long does the course take?
- A. The self study course can be done at your own pace , it varies from about 1 to 3 months per module but all modules should not take longer than 12 months.
- Q. How do I register for the course?
- A. Registrations should be done online. Click on REGISTRATION and fill in your details, then submit. You can start your studies once registered.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Q. Do I need to have industry related work ?
- A. Students must ensure that suitable work is available to supplement the learning process. New Agents are required to complete a 12 month internship (or already have sufficient work experience) under an Estate Agency Principal or a Real Estate Agent of at least 3years experience.
- Q. I don’t have work or exposure to any work can I still register ?
- A. You should try find work at a suitable company and it is up to all learners to ensure that they have suitable work experience or employment.
EXISTING AGENTS
- Q. Can I do the qualification by RPL?
- A. Yes, the qualification can be done by RPL.
- Q. What is RPL ?
- A. Recognition of Prior Learning and work experience.
- Q. How long does RPL take?
- A. As a guide about 3 months but can be done at your own pace.
- Q. I did the old EAAB exam does it count?
- A. Yes, you will be exempt from 18 credits but you would still need to do additional modules.
- Q. What happens if I do not have sufficient prior learning or work experience to achieve the full qualification by RPL?
- A. You will be required to do additional studies for the outstanding credits.
- Q. Where do I do this training?
- A. We can provide additional study material and lectures subject to demand.
WHAT IS RPL ?
- RPL- Recognition of Prior Learning, is where prior experience and qualifications are matched against the qualification. This is an assessment of your prior learning and work experience. We would provide you with the RPL assessment and you would submit it to us to be assessed once completed.
- Q. Can I do RPL and training?
- A. No, you must choose one or the other.
- Q. What happens if I do the RPL but do not get sufficient credits to achieve the qualification ?
- A. You would then be required to study for the remaining subjects.
- Q. Is there coaching or workshops available to assist me with the RPL?
- A. Yes, workshops are available subject to demand but are not compulsory.
RPL candidates can complete the RPL without attending these workshops.
The RPL is usually preferred where a person is an existing agent or principal who has prior knowledge and work experience already. RPL is not recommended for someone new to that type of work.

EXEMPTION RPL
- Q. I already have a degree or diploma. Do I need to do the Agents or Principals qualification?
- A. See the exemption matrix at the bottom of the RPL PAGE for details of exemptions.
- Q. I have an appropriate qualification to be exempt what do I do?
- A. You should submit the certificates and results to us and we will provided you with an exemption certificate.
- Q. What should I do if I am exempt from some credits but not the whole qualification?
- A. You would then do additional study towards the qualification.
NEW PRINCIPALS
- Q. Can I register as a principal estate agent once I have completed the estate agents qualification?
- A. No, you need to complete the principals qualification before you can register as a principal.
- Q, How long does it take?
- A. You can do the course at your own pace by self study. It takes about 1 to 3 months per module but should not take more than 12 months.
- Q, I have not yet done the agents qualification can I still study to be a principal ?
- A. No, you must first be an agent before becoming a Principal.
- Q. I have already done an equivalent to the level 4 with my previous studies can I do the principals course?
- A. You should provide us with course details indicating subjects and results achieved and we may allow you to do the principals course.
EXISTING PRINCIPALS
- Q. Do I need to do the new principals qualification?
- A. Yes, you should do the RPL assessment. RPL is for Real Estate Principals or Managers who already have work experience and require the qualification.
- Q, I have not yet done the estate agents qualification what should do I do ?
- A. If you are register as a principal with the EAAB then you should do the principals RPL level 5.
- Q. Can I do the course instead of the RPL?
- A. Yes the choice is yours. Some people prefer doing the course to enhance their skills and knowledge.
SPECIALISATIONS
- Q. What specialisation options are available?
- A. Specialisations are available in real estate, property managements, valuations, agriculture, leisure, commercial and industrial.
WHEN DO I DO THE EXAMS?
We do not offer exams as such but rather do assessments. We provide you with the assessment guides and you submit them to us once they have been completed.
I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND LECTURES WHAT DO I DO?
- A. Lectures may be available in some areas at an additional cost and subject to demand.
- Q. If I want to attend workshops or lectures but they are not available yet in my area what do I do?
- A. Register for self study to start off and contact us to advise that that you are interested in lectures. We will advise if there is/when there is sufficient demand in your area.
- Q. When are lectures conducted?
- A. Lectures are scheduled during office hours and lecture dates may exclude revision days, support days and additional assessments. (if required)
- Q. Do the lectures differ from self study?
- A. Course notes and assessments are the same for lectures and self study.
WHERE ARE COURSES OFFERED ?
We offer RPL and courses nationally by self study and conduct classes in the bigger areas subject to demand . We could also do in house training if required.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
We offer payment options on request to make payment of the course easier.
Corporate students should make full payment on registration.
